Very similar boat, except mine varies wildly based on how much background ouch I'm already having. I know there are people who find pain relief with overloading their food heat receptors. Mine are wired in the opposite direction so the more ouch I have the less heat I can handle.

I would probably earn a lot more by being in Unlimited & getting all of Amazon's free advertising for Unlimited.

But since I'm lucky enough to still have my day job, I don't have to make the purely-money decision just yet & can also be wide.

If the fed cuts go through permanently, that may change.

I understand that folks don't like Amazon and say that people should buy in other places.

But until people DO buy in equivalent numbers in other places, I have to still be on Amazon. We're not even remotely there yet.

I'm not in Unlimited but I am in KDP in general. I'm wide with d2d and itch.

Amazon continues to be upwards of 95% of my sales and profits.

I sold more copies and made more money on Amazon just last month alone than on every other platform combined for the entire past year.

There will at some point be more detailed "All The Nutmeg" and "Pumpkin spice as a spice doesn't technically need pumpkin per se, but yum" and "have you ever accidentally melted Culver's pumpkin ice cream? That's basically this" notes, but in the meantime I'm going flat for a while

So the Cozy Science Report (TM) is delayed by the reason I didn't do this experiment during Hearthcon itself:

I suspected there might be too much Ambient Coffee in the Starbucks system, like how many gluten sensitive folks nope out of bakeries.

I turned off AI search summaries anywhere I could but now the actual page hits are AI generated garbage with either step 1 or step 2 being "make/do the thing" with no actually usable information and FFS how do I get off this nightmare?

I need to scream about how the first three pages of search in both Google and DuckDuckGo are now filled with AI slop that can't even answer "how to get the actual phone number at company X" or "how to make a thing when the instructions need to be better than step 1 make the thing."
