London / Black Country. I'm trying to engage more.
I remember growing up in the Black Country in the 80s and when a kid from my school went to Disneyland it was like he'd gone on holiday to Mars.

When I first read that post I immediately thought of the line (paraphrasing) "the Them thought America was where good people went when they died" from Good Omens.

Peas, though. I’d be doing victory laps of the kitchen.

The government's biannual Traveller Caravan Count includes both GRT and showpeople, although they are separated out in the data. This is from the submission form:

My mother in law does. And the woman gets a lot of messages.

My boy is at nursery Mon-Wed. His (apparently) favourite thing is to register a high temperature late on Monday afternoon and get sent home. Rules are that he's not allowed back for 48 hours, so effectively that's him home for the rest of the week. My annual leave allowance is in tatters.

They also did the original IT system for the Homes For Ukraine scheme (last year MHCLG developed something of their own in house, and it's better).

The Welsh side coming out there.

I dare say you're right. Really it's good that I find their opinions so out there, because honestly it looks like a pretty miserable way to view the world.

If I'd been a girl I'd have been Angharad.

I can only do it for short periods because it's honestly too much.

I think they might have already decided that flood defences are woke.

I spend a bit of time on the DT website and the whole paper has been audience captured by their comments section, which has gone absolutely feral. However mad the articles and headlines sound, I guarantee the comments are worse.

If you mention the busted toe I'm sure they'll sort you out. How did you hurt it?
February 11, 2026 at 6:46 AM
That’s exactly it, so it’s really not my fault that I’m going to eat a steak and kidney pie at 9am.

(She also said “You need varifocals, Mr Williams. And unfortunately it’s age-related”, shortly before plunging a dagger directly into my heart)

Fellow 45 year old here: it took about an hour to get used to them but since then they’ve been grand. During the appt the optician flipped me between my new prescription and what I’d been living with and the difference was massive: it was no wonder I’d been taking my specs off to read for so long.

Yep, that was great.

My boy referred to a picture of a mermaid as a “Mrs Dolphin”.

Everything I’ve heard about it is positive and I’m so pleased. Now to get round to actually watching the thing.

That was exactly what I compared it to when my wife showed me the Insta 😂

True story: I patiently explained to a Labour canvasser that I‘d be voting Green in the locals because of that “incalculable damage” speech (which I know doesn’t make a lot of sense , but anyway) and the response was “yeah, but the Greens don’t even know what a woman is”. 🙄
