It's somewhat comparable, on a smaller scale, to 1989's Batman going back to noir/German expressionist roots.

Don't forget that he failed as a white rapper first!

That said, every Laika movie has been wonderful and a money loser. He has put his dad's fortune to better use than making overpriced shoes.

Comics too, I think, which is where the Despara concept originates. Probably more accurate to say it's only non-separate for toys. I'd love to talk to any of the filmmakers about it, since Mattel, like most major toy companies, will not talk about license and rights ever.

The rights to She-Ra have been separate, which is why they've done Adora as Despara instead in so many recent iterations. Yet many of the villains cross over licenses, as seen in the POP Netflix show. Be great to clear that all up.
