I design stuff for #3Dprinting. Most of my designs can be found here: https://www.printables.com/@lytta

they/them

I try to only repost image posts that have alt text/image descriptions. (This includes sometimes adding them myself.)
Fabric samples! I ordered samples of various tulles and meshes to try 3D printing on.

There's a lot of variety in mesh size and drape/stiffness in these, so I can experiment and decide which would work better for different ideas.

First test of the full 3d printable movable type block! #3dprinting

I repeated the (block) print five times, this one came out the best.

I'm having some height discrepancies in the type pieces themselves. I'll have to take a look later once it's dried off from washing.

Since I avoid using supports as much as possible, the screw holes print perpendicular to the bed with a little section of the threads removed. This seems to work okay with a large custom thread size.

Zine-sized movable type printing block progress: I realized it needs to have a per-line closure so I've been working on figuring that out.

This works, but the pressure from the screws when screwed too tight makes the thin bottom part start to buckle, so I need to test thicknesses.

success! (project: movable type block, approximately zine sized)

next i need to print a bunch more letters and pick a fun passage that's 400-450 characters and fits well to test a block print

My two 5mL fountain pen ink sample holder slime designs!

I'm working on a more geometric design next.

(Also somewhere I jotted down notes for a design that can hold multiple sizes of vial? but idk how much of a thing that is)

do you ever go 'hey what if i made my own movable type setup' and then proceed to get deeply lost in the weeds?

this is proof of concept with watered down acrylic paint (ie not ideal but it's what i had) from a two-line test model. my baren is a felt furniture pad stuck to a cork.

The reason I want to sell these as physical objects is because they *need* to have little rubber friction nubs on the bottom. Otherwise they slide around a lot.

I may want to add a fifth one in the middle to make sure it stays stable.

Squiggly fountain pen rest! It holds 3 fountain pens.

Happy Valentine's Day! This year I made a pitcher plant that prints in vase mode. #3Dprinting

$7 USD, so that hopefully after Prusa and Stripe take their cut I get $5: www.printables.com/model/118934... It's also available to my club subscribers.

Based on Sarracenia purpurea 🌱

I made a video form of my how-it-slices gif for the pitcher plant, JUST so I can share it to bsky:

Vase mode pitcher plant first draft printed!

(I'm printing it again in light blue now so I can see flaws better...then I sleep on what changes I need to make.)

I actually really like this squiggly pen rest design, but it has some structural issues (kinda bendy, doesn't lie flat.) I thought I needed to re-do it entirely BUT I think I can improve everything with a flat bottom addition and a color change 🤔

Alright, here's photos of my 3d-printed antique pen rack recreation, modified to fit modern fountain pens! (from www.loc.gov/resource/ppm...)

(+ The rainbow texture bed is so pretty but deeply difficult to print on)

bonus photo of anti-skid nubbins on the bottom

I sized the ones I got, and they stay in pretty well on their own but I still want to test adhering them in with a teeny tiny bit of silicone ii

fountain pen folks: for fountain pen 'storage' on a desk, how many pens do you want a fountain pen rest to hold?

the designs I'm working on can go from 2 to 8, I want to know what sizes people might prefer

I posted my design for faceted icicles that print in spiral vase mode: www.printables.com/model/112013...

It's free with a CC BY-SA license (commercial use of prints is fine, as long as you credit me as the original designer.) #3dprinting

took a better photo of green little guy

I want to build a hashtag #MakeALittleGuy for making and sharing little guys... I'm planning to make a feed for it and a couple other terms when I get a moment. I really want to get other folks to tag their little guys so I can see them 👀 🧶

i just wanted to work on something nice and cute, so I've made a little 3D printable jam jar.

it's not SUPER tiny (although it could be) because it's two bits that screw together, and I want to be able to put tiny things inside
