Have you given #birth in the UK in the past five years? We (incl. me!) do so much research on fetal monitoring, but rarely record the experiences of the women being monitored. My student Verónica Blanco Gutiérrez is addressing this gap: bristolmaternity.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

I went and did another race! The main takeaway is that I am, in fact, a little competitive 😅. Also, the people at Cotswold Trail Events are ace folk and I recommend checking them out if you're local(-ish): cotswoldtrailevents.co.uk/broadway-mar.... #running #marathon

Last week I responded to an anonymous hello on a whiteboard at work. I thought it would be cute if someone replied back. I honestly didn't expect the existential crisis though? #academicsky

"You may fascinate a woman by giving her a piece of cheese."

I love the race photos that make me look cool, but I'm really just here for the 5am snacks.

Both of these shoes have around 770k run in them. The left (Saucony Peregrine 13) has barely started fraying. The right (Altra Lone Peak 8) threatens to become more KT tape than original upper. Now, I love a good #pairups story, but wtf Altra.

The Beer Lovers' Marathon in Liege, Belgium, has a special place in my heart, and not just because it was my first and only #marathon race. It captures the best of a sport that I deeply love, but that can be pretty toxic at times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zstD...

Weekend achievements:
1. Happily DNF-ed the Suffolk Back Yard after 25 yards, #running my first ever 100mi and change (!) making it to the top 3 women (!!) and still having something left in the tank (!!!).
2. Managed to commute home (three trains!) and take a shower with minimal swearing.

So, at work we've just been issued new guidance on travelling to the USA. It includes a warning about social media posts "criticising the current administration [...] even if the posts were made years prior", and suggests that pregnant travellers should avoid states with abortion bans.

This #MHAW we are celebrating community. We are also celebrating calling your GP, because sometimes all you need is a running buddy, and sometimes it takes therapy and/or meds.

I'm genuinely a big believer in the peer review process, it's great! Still, my student's manuscript is somehow simultaneously "not punchy enough" (R1) and "incredibly insulting" (R2). #AcademicSky

I *love* that more young people are spending time outdoors. Rather than gatekeeping & berating them for using their phones, how about we teach them common sense navigation & safety?

It’s World Autism Awareness Day! What are the chances that the same FKT would be set by two autistic women one after the other? It's in Oxfordshire, so perhaps higher than you’d think. Maria’s incredibly thoughtful story here: www.outtherepodcast.com/episodes/fkt

Photographic evidence that I can run without a backpack full of snacks. #runreading25 #runsky

1. Final sprint
2. The boys are *done*
3. The first time I spot a race photographer... about 20k into a half marathon 🤦‍♀️
4. Herd animals

A strong and controlled sub 1h40m finish and now back to ultras 😊

A must watch film.

We are in awe of our co-founder Jasmin. Just watching this film brings back the emotions of waiting for Keith’s tweet in 2024.

The drive, tenacity and endurance 🤩

The wonderful trail running community also shines through 😍

We need a German compound noun for the unsettled feeling you get when #BM100 is on but you also have everyday life and work responsibilities.

I want to keep my account on here 🦋 personal and not professional, but then again my work is pretty personal. I won't be doing tweetorials, etc., I just want to say that being part of this project is really, really special.

Why #ultrarunning is for girls:
1) so. many. shoes.
2) carefully chosen outfits
3) all the accessories
4) running fuel is basically girl dinner
5) you become a feral mountain witch

In very embarrassing personal news, I've started a running Substack. Things I'm currently noodling on include sex and age in ultra running, ultras more generally, race training, public right of way, silly heart rate metrics, and snacks. Probably a bunch of other things too.
I run too much
By which I mean “I run so much I think about it all the time”. I’m training for a race right now, and for the first time ever I feel like I’m not hitting new milestones. I know how to do every trainin...

After years of rebelling against it, I've adopted my mother's hiking obsession. Except I call it "trail running" to try and convince myself it's somehow different.
