No hail - just heavy rain this weekend @scarefest.

Nice to hear you at GB2GP!

I’ve done this for a long time with @gb2gp. Don’t underestimate Morse code. Those kids won’t be really learning cw but it’s surprisingly engaging as an activity

The LDMOS, I agree, the board has come up rather well though!

Im glad you didnt say *which* contest
October 24, 2025 at 4:31 PM
I speculate there is so much RTTY as the reporting period includes the CQWW RTTY contest - any other month would be much lower

If it does fail at 2350hrs I won’t be awake to see it 😀 #parttimecontester

You’ve got the newer one with a blue motor cover. I think the main water leak is through the bearing hence the 3d printed hat. I can share the file if you have a printer. I may be able to take one to convention if you are stuck
October 8, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I agree - but I guess it doesnt rain as much in Italy :)
October 7, 2025 at 2:20 PM
The hat is being added this time to try and make the replacement pot last longer than 15 months. Let's see if there is a similar post complaining about it next year :)

Thats hard with moving parts! the 3D printed hat is designed to help....
October 7, 2025 at 2:14 PM
This is an early one, and I think the case is better in the later versions, which means less leakage, but even so, the most recent PST61PRO has an encoder on the motor rather than concentric to the antenna, meaning no pot at all!

But at £1500 for a replacement, I am having to live with it!

With a huge amount of help from M0MDS, the rotator now has a 3D printed rain hat. And yet another new pot in the base

what a mess!
October 7, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Is agree with the hex if it’s not too ugly! Mainly on the basis that it’s a much more modern design. I guess the Moseley is lower profile though.

I know. Can you believe it?

At the shack end with elements touching the ground. All the right dips in all the wrong places. It’ll come good when I crank the tower
September 21, 2025 at 5:40 PM
And I shouldn’t post without my glasses at the bottom of the tower. Sorry for all the typos

So I sent through the various coax joints to find an intermittent n male. Took the offending connection apart to find it was a solderless type. It’s now soldered!
