Yes, workforce shortages are about pay, skills and training. But mostly they're about the simple fact that Scotland and the UK do not have enough people of working age, as the number of older people grows - for years to come. Moving deckchairs around only creates shortfalls elsewhere.

2.2m Brits live in other EU countries, with access to reciprocal arrangements, including as part of the EU withdrawal agreement. Threaten that, and the walls will come crashing down.

You're in England. You have to believe progressive change is still possible. Many/most of us in Scotland, including the Greens, no longer see the UK as being our only option.

I'm not sure if you're kidding me, but here goes ...
There is no such thing as The Green Party in the UK. But fortunately, in Scotland, we have the Scottish Greens, who share your apparent desire to see a way out of creeping fascism in the UK, which is to have no UK.

Yes, the Scottish Greens, to leave the UK asap.
(There is no The Green Party).

This government has said the UK is "the destination of choice" for asylum seekers in Europe. That is simply untrue.

Now saying: claims in the UK are rising, while they are falling across Europe. Accurate of Germany (the destination of choice), of France (still more claims than UK), but not Spain

Support for people seeking asylum is already highly restricted. What Mahmood is effectively talking about is putting people in more precarious positions and forcing them to sell whatever they may have managed to save when fleeing for their lives.
