They have allowed for it to be read or read to you, but they haven't authorized it for things like public performances or adaptation to a screenplay (barring specific things like creative commons). A programmer feeding it into a learning package is a commercial use and artists should have say in it.

In general, the complaint isn't plagiarism. It is the fact that the programmers use an artist's work in a way they never authorized for a commercial, non-creative endeavor. It isn't them making copies of their work. It is that they have authorized it for particular purposes.
