My Brother in christ, is it illegal right now to post queer and nsfw content? No? Then this bill will make it illegal for the companies to block the payments for that content.

Yes and when they try you protest THAT like hell.

How? It’s not yet illegal. So it would be illegal to do it right now.

But currently corporations are allowed to do that already. Look at what mastercard and visa are doing to itch io and steam right now. Why not make it one step harder at least?

I’m genuinly trying to understand how it will be used negatively other than being told it will be used negatively. Like what will be done? Because first they’d have to criminalize things in order to suppress it according to this bill, right? Or am I misunderstanding the actual writing of the bill?

Agreed, it could be used for negative things. But then you protest the criminalization of LGBTQ and NSFW content. Not the enshrining of consumer protections.

I see that yes it can also be used for coal and certain industries. But I see nothing wrong with the essence of that bill. Sometimes good bills will also do good things to bad industries because we can’t discriminate against them

Um, correct me if I’m wrong here. But if a transaction is deemed illegal already, your bank already blocks it, see fraud blocks. This seems like a positive bill. And yes if the other things are made illegal that’s a separate law to worry about and protest.
