We heard the skies were blue and full of stories 📖
An illustration from the book BEAR HAS A STORY TO TELL written by Philip C. Stead and illustrated by Erin E. Stead.

It's a beautiful painted piece of a bear standing on its hind legs and looking up and silhouetted against a blue, starry sky.

Did you know that ODDER was inspired by a real-life conservation success story from @montereybayaquarium.org?

By the early 1900s, central CA's population of southern sea otters was down to 50. Today, there are close to 3,000.

Conservation measures work. 💙🦦 @mackidsbooks.bsky.social #mglit

50th Anniversary Editions Include

New foreword from Gabrielle Zevin
Breathtaking illustrations by Bagram Ibatoulline
A gallery of never-before-seen archival materials
Afterword from Natalie Babbitt's daughter
A deluxe hardcover edition featuring deckled edges, foil type and printed endpapers

Book title: Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt A page from the book. A black and white photo shows an older white woman standing with three young children, two boys and a girl. Text below the photo reads:

Babbitt in Nashville in 1960 with her children, Lucy, Chris, and Tom, in a photo taken by her husband, Samuel Babbitt, a dean and lecturer at Vanderbilt University at the time, whom she met on a blind date and later married in 1954. The couple collaborated on a picture book published in 1966 that Samuel wrote and Natalie illustrated, The Forty-Ninth Magician. A picture of a piece of lined paper with writing in pencil on it. A 1 in a circle is at the top of the page. Text below the picture reads:

Detail of the beginning of an early handwritten chapter outline of the novel, as yet untitled. The rest of the outline is transcribed on pages 153-54. Much of the general plot of the final book is in place, but the author has not settled on final names for the characters. Also, Winnie's conflicted affection for Jesse in the final story is here imagined as a more straightforward romance, and the essential antagonist of the final drama, the man in the yellow suit, has not yet been introduced. Text reads: Babbitt sketched these two alternative cover designs for the book. For the final jacket, it was decided to use her atmospheric painting of the Tuck family cabin and the pond, which is the art featured on the cover of the fiftieth anniversary edition as well.
