I'm sorry, I just got excited to share that there is a WHOLE industry of making mermaid tails and it is more accessible and affordable than ever and it is a really fun hobby with a lot of great people.

@aerifiretruck.bsky.social there is also finfolk who also make good fabric tails, but they are definitely more expensive finfolk.com/collections/...

BLAKE, they make freaking fantastic fabric tails and I wholly recommend them!
My friend @courtneyliterally.bsky.social makes my personal favorite fabric tails www.vancouvermermaid.ca/portfolio.html

But finfun is great for trying out the hobby: finfunmermaid.com/collections/...

They are made of medical grade silicone so they do need care, and also need lubrication to get in (while you can put one on dry, the risk of ripping it is too great). The paint helps keep cat hair and other stuff off, but it still attracts things. And you need to wash and dry them or else mold

Fabric tails are great and I wholly recommend them, they just don't replicate actual scales for light references on a human body.

Definitely could do a kickstarter, but I do think it is important that the person also wants one cause those silicone tails have to be CARED for. I have been tempted so many times to get one, but I cannot justify $4,000 for something I would use maybe once a year

And the ankle fin placement does a fantastic job at distracting from the ankles as well

Oh yeah! Not to mention that dry modeling the tail quickly becomes a sweat nightmare (they do not breath), but damn they are pretty

Fabric is the way to go! Lower maintenance, WAY cheaper, and there are so many great resources to make them look fantastic!
