Amy, I think you're about the best political commentator in the country atm ... which means I trust (only) your response to this - does your wrap for the Australia Institute 23 Jan explain why Labor does not pick up on this or is it something to do with me? macroedgo.com/2026/01/22/g...

"hate towards Jewish people grew amongst Germans (and elsewhere) through the 1930s, the Nazis first answer to the so-called "Jewish problem" was forced emigration, and the decision to carry out genocide through extermination did not crystallise until 1941"

I have a new hero ... @Ahona Guha 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This book reached me on so many levels - truly useful for all trying to survive this system of Extreme capitalism with so many inflicting harm on others even if it does not always fit the definition of trauma ...

Most people can not read through the nonsense so here is the specific passage ... along with a little sidebar for comic relief ...

As far as I could understand through his rambling incoherence, his lobbying for the Nobel prize hinges on just 1 more signature (who he threatens). I really don't know what will be worse - with the carrot still dangling at least he remains incentivised to give the appearance of caring about lives

People wondering how to lead in this fractured society, this is an important example. This man - who I know - is hurting and is vulnerable to far right voices over gender and trad roles. With compassion I help to see through his pain and understand what is really important. He put on 'like'

Seems the far-right understands this well (but apparently only applies wrt the 'radical' left) ... do they also know that it's not good PR to (be seen to) admit it? Nah, people are so whacked these days they don't recognise blatant hypocrisy ...

Amy you are an (rare) authentic leader in our troubled society ... feel your pain about experience of violence - am sitting on a personal gun violence video (to save others from embarrassment) ... Experiment for all, search AI tool for how many people Hitler killed (Gemini's response below) ...

Bill Ackmann may regret his support of Trump. Think he and many were so enamoured by attacks on 'wokes' (driven by hate towards groups of 'others') that they did not see how hate and division ultimately hurts all and everything. Billionaires have a lot of privilege to cushion them from stupidity

Globalisation has never been the 'problem' - the problem has been Extreme capitalism where the benefits accrued to the wealthy while the workers in developed countries were hurt from losing their ability to earn income and workers in poor countries did not see enduring relief from precarity ...

And so I tried again by spelling out the request and it refused again (so I had to edit the original) ....

Then I tried to adapt to the symbolism to modern day, and even though it originally was 'enthusiastically supportive' about the idea, it ultimately refused to produce an output ... initially it suggested an alternative, which I tried to accept, and then it said it couldn't produe that either ...

Thought I would give a personal recount of my experience of Cyclone Winifred now almost 40 years ago ...
March 7, 2025 at 1:54 AM
I spent Cyclone Winifred in Mourilyan - in the centre of the arrow... My family abandoned our old sugarcane cutters barracks home and rode it out in a new brick house of friends, watching roofing iron ripped off, hurtling by... Don't be complacent - this is serious...

From BOM past cyclones page ... by the old scale it was cat 3, but now considered cat 2 like Alfred ... my family abandoned our old sugarcane cutters barracks home and rode out the cyclone in a new brick house of friends, watching roofing iron rip by ... don't be complacent - this is serious ...

This is one of my lasting memories of Cyclone Winifred which went through Innisfail in 1986 when I was in Year 12, and we missed about a week of school ... Winifred had mean maximum gusts of 126 km/h with gusts to 150 ... at present Alfred sustained winds at centre of 100 km/h with gusts to 140 ...

Hitler & Trump were products of their time and environment. Hitlerism was borne of enforced austerity from the Treaty of Versailles leading to poverty, shame and resentment. The increasingly Extreme capitalism that successive American generations endorsed did the same and led the way to Trumpism ...

I'm sure the millions of Australians whose retirement savings were just offered up in New York this week are feeling really happy and secure ... How did those meetings go, @jimchalmers.bsky.social ? Zelensky didn't need to crawl around the plane looking for his pair ... things just got very real ...
March 1, 2025 at 5:59 AM
Trump accused Zelensky of gambling with WW3, so obviously he is also ... then after the most disastrous televised Presidential meeting ever at the White House, he quipped that it will be 'great television' ... While that says everything, it doesn't - did Trump mean only that meeting or WW3 itself ?
