I've learned the hard way. Been exposing myself to way too much of what's going on and it has brought me closer to insanity. I need to step away for a while before I go completely mad.

Exactly! It's way too defeatist and only seems to be sensationionalizing the situation instead of providing solutions!

I think a good healthy balance is optimal. Obviously, you should care for things going on and try to see if there's anyway you can help others, but also find time for yourself and do things that make you happy. If you only focus on negativity 24/7, you will go insane. You are a human, not a machine.
