Watching Scorsese’s The Color of Money (1986) and I can’t believe just how little chemistry there is between Tom Cruise and the great Paul Newman.

I’m rewatching the Harry Potter films this Christmas season, and I’d forgotten how great the sets are in those first two. The grotty sewer system leading to the Chamber of Secrets is a real treat. Something that is lost in the more CGI-laden later films.

INCENDIES (2010) blew me away. While I am completely on board with the science fiction run Villeneuve is in the middle of, part of me is also hoping he returns to the style of filmmaking that defined his earlier work.

Someone this week told me it was heretical to equate the gospel to punk, which ironically only deepened my conviction. Faith is punk as hell.
