Independent researcher and writer. Blogging about Danish weapons producer Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat here https://madsenbyhansen.com/

Danish, catlady, gardening, PhD in biology. Currently studying history.
Here we see a demonstration of the Madsen MG in 1929. Many important people from the Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat were present, as well as representatives from Brazil and Estonia.

It must have been considered an exotic excursion, as it was fairly common to bring one's wife.

I´m a bit late, but this is a very interesting topic.

I can add a picture of a Madsen gun pictured during a demonstration in 1929. It must have been a sales pitch to Brazil and Estonia since both countries have send their chargé d' affairs.

This urine colour-wheel from around 1400-1500 is from the present exhibition in the Danish national library. Some of it seems legit, but I am not sure I want to know which alignment turns urine green or black🙈

Went to this exhibition yesterday.

Between Heaven and Earth is Royal Danish Library's new special exhibition, where the history of magic emerges as a shared narrative. The doors are opened to rare books of sorcery, alchemical writings, occult photographs and ritual objects.

Arg… this made me go into a rabbit hole.

The US allow corn syrup in their canned w c! I don't think that is allowed in the EU. And it would have to be marked GMO if containig any GMO corn (which. I think, all US corn syrup do).
I generally like EU food standards!

Opinion: Buying books - is what I personally think is the worst impact of Breixit! Or rather, not buying books.

I used to order my books in my favorit british bookstores. Now it is rather impossible due to import taxes and exorbiant fees.

Ps. Read this as a slightly ironic, personal, opinion.

Doing that write-up of the small production of a special bayonet. Easy, short, well rounded.

Well: now I am chasing 13 prod. types, archivalia of several countries, obscure letters to even more obscure weapon dealers.

Wish somebody paid me to do this…

Just making a quick write-up of a relatively easy subject.

Expectation: A few thousand rifles exported to one country.

Reality: 12 (twelve) different models probably exported to three different countries.

Well, easy is boring.

Dried corn husks?

This is a question to #history or #folklore

Why would winefarmers in S. #France hang dried corn husks from beams? These have been hanging here since the house was abandoned in early 1950s - or earlier.

Were they for practical use? Stored during WWII? Superstitution?

Back from (what should have been) vacation. A a big box of trouble/wonderful work.

Loads (more than can be seen here) of papers, mostly official stuff but also correspondance, from WWI. Invitations and what seems to be tax papers. Mostly from 1890 - 1918.

I find that good questions can be asked about voids in the text🌚 What is missing and why is it missing, can lead to new questions.

But only after reading lots and lots of documents, texts and b📚
