💠 ThoT is a frustrating experience in general, and a collection of disconnected puzzles at best: from the story to the puzzles, the sound, the UI... I really wonder what happened here. As it's being reworked, I hope the devs can turn it into a fun game, but as it currently is, I do not recommend it.

🔹 What ThoT does best, though, is transmitting the physicality of the objects that the player interacts with: levers, keys, door compartments... most moving objects require the player to reproduce the move, and it was specially satisfying playing on a touch screen as I did (iPad + Steam Link).

🔹 In chapter 6, the puzzles made the least sense in the environment they were. I reached a bug that forbid me from progressing and made the decision to quit very easy. Add irregular texture resolutions, absent sound effects, long puzzle reset animations, abrupt camera flips when changing spots...

🔹 Around chapter 5 I still wanted to see 'the whole picture' (ending) but I wasn't having a great time, so I started using the hints system. Then it fell apart, too, giving me mostly redundant information, unrelated to the solution: "I know the pieces move horizontal and vertically, you don't say!".

🔹 On my second playthrough I found the 'hard' puzzles in chapters 1-3 nerfed to the trivial point, resulting in a very guided and on-rails experience. From chapter 4 onwards the spikes came back, with puzzles that I didn't understand even when solved.

🔹 The puzzles should be in the spotlight, anyway. I started playing on release, and found their difficulty very uneven, with moon-logic ones followed by trivial ones. I left the game in chapter 3, and by the time I came back, I restarted it, to find out that the whole project was being remade.

🔹 While in the past we embody Tesla himself, reliving some of his memories, mainly revolving around him not finding a suitable investor to fund his projects. It's an untangled plot, with plain, one-sided characters, that has nothing to reveal.
January 11, 2026 at 1:06 AM
🔹 The story, told through static 3D scenes (like dioramas) and divided into 6 chapters, is told in two timelines: in the 'present' (it's ~1900) the amnesic MC wakes up in Tesla's workshop, exploring the environments to unlock their memory, having acquired 0 knowledge about themselves by chapter 6.

🔷 The house of Tesla (ThoT) is a game in the style of 'The room' games, or its preceding saga, 'The house of DaVinci'. If you don't know those, I'll say that it's a mix of escape room (but swap 'escape' for 'explore') and a point and click adventure, as we also collect and combine objects.

💠 YATC is a game based on coding that presents a bunch of fun concepts and combination of mechanics, leaving room for more. Specially recommended for those who enjoy logic games, it made it to my top 10 puzzle games of 2025.

🔹 My only negative regards the music, which I don’t think it matches the theme, specially the one with the church organ, in general feeling repetitive quite rapidly and distracting at times.

🔹 Visuals are nice (for a text-only game) and I’m glad the narrative is kept on the simple side.
January 3, 2026 at 11:54 PM
🔹 There are plenty of levels (150 plus some meta) that, for good or bad, felt they never exhausted each mechanic, swapping commands and concepts every few levels, leaving room for future updates or community-made ones, since it includes a custom level editor, to make your own or play someone else’s.
January 3, 2026 at 11:54 PM
🔹 What the player actually does is move up and down between lines of code with pre-written commands, activating them in a specific order so that the outcome matches each level’s goal. While the commands are super easy to understand, their combination makes for challenging and interesting levels.

🔷 You are the code (YATC) is a puzzle game that, despite what the title implies, doesn’t require writing or fixing any code. Instead, the topic is used as a theme for the mechanics and backstory, which is about the player being trapped within the ‘YACT-OS’ (operative system), needing to escape.
