*by the end of the dream I have he meets a chill human lady, and he goes into a existential crisis because humans are not like how he was told his whole life, at least she’s not. And he eventually leaves his village over it on some sort of personal quest. I’ve been working on rewriting the dream.

The bear can speak to her, and tells her that it’s not safe up her for her and she’s better off staying underground. That’s where my memory of the dream ends.

I had an idea for the name of her bear friend, maybe her name is Ursula for the scientific name for bear.

She gets close, and peaks out into a forest until some humans find her and try to hunter down and capture her. They stab their spears into the ground where they think her tunnels are until thankfully a bear shows up and drives them off.

The dirt mermaids do something similar so that can slide around tunnels, and strengthen the passage ways they create.

My dream started with her waking up underground alone and a desire to see the surface, so she starts digging to find it.

Her story is that she’s like an underground mermaid species that lives in underground lakes and rivers. They can dig really well and like hagfish or, if you know monster hunter, like the Mizutsune who emits soapy stuff to slide around easier.
