Appalling person.

Maybe but even he said, yesterday, that this is part of a coordinated attempt to bring down the BBC.

Indeed.

Good observation.

Local candidates definitely play well in most constituencies.

No, it was Maldon. I tried to get them to change the recommendation and got a similar response.

I see it's on until mid April. I'll try to catch it when I'm in the UK in the new year.

Yeah. My constituency was listed as Labour, despite them having absolutely no presence on the ground and flying in an unknown candidate from outside. In contrast, the LibDems are very active, have a good sized presence on the D C and had a local candidate. The vote was split and the Tory won.

I was replying to Dean re Labour being progressive. BSky often seems to put replies in the wrong part of the thread.

Maybe I was/am more outraged by the fact that he's now in the HoL, involved in government even though he was responsible for the biggest act of national self harm. He shouldn't be anywhere near parliament or government IMHO.

The problem with the tactical voting sites is that they're organised nationally, based on previous polls. What we really need is groups of citizens working in each constituency: people who know what's going on on the ground.
I don't think Labour can claim to be progressive anymore...

Isn't he having to wear a brace on his right leg, following his suspected TMI? That could explain the tapping.
November 8, 2025 at 1:52 PM
The fact that he caused the disaster and then just walked away really sticks in the craw. When he reappeared as FS, I wanted to vomit.

The willingness to abandon Labour was also shown in the Runcorn & Helsby by-election. Labour lost a huge majority, mostly because people stayed at home. That did allow a racist to get elected but the point is that the total progressive vote was still larger than Reform's. Tactical voting in future?

They're also not terribly good at running things once they're in charge. Brighton is a case in point.

I suspect the parents of Harry Dunn, killed by the American Anne Sacoolas who was driving on the wrong side of the road in Northamptonshire, would say that it's American drivers who are dangerous.
November 8, 2025 at 8:29 AM
Oh no, I know. Just watching local weather patterns should be enough to convince people that nowhere near enough is being done.
November 8, 2025 at 8:25 AM
I think Ed does get it. I also agree that Caerphilly showed that progressive voters are fed up with more of the same from Labour and will take a chance on a different progressive party (personally, I don't think Labour can be described as progressive anymore). It's an opportunity for LDs, Greens etc

The effigy of the pope is always that of Pius V, who excommunicated Elizabeth I. Current affairs effigies have been burnt since around the middle of the nineteenth century. Anti-establishment riots were commonplace. The riot act was read frequently. You'd never know if walking through Lewes now!
November 8, 2025 at 8:01 AM
Alas, though Lewes is my home town, I now live in Italy. I shall make a resolution to try to get over next year. I used to take part when I was young. It's great fun but you walk miles!
