Scam alert: there's an IngramSpark impersonator at ingramsparkbookpublishers dot com. Part of a wave of publishing/ghostwriting scams from Pakistan that hijack authors looking to self-publish--they often "borrow" well-known publisher names but this one also "borrows" the real IngramSpark's logo

As with every other meeting in this book, everyone is destined to start off on the wrong foot. 😂 Although Hal feels moved by his nephew, his nephew hasn't got the measure of him yet. He's still measuring his uncles by the standards of his deceased father - which is to say he expects them to be cruel

Started preparing a new pitch for the novella, to fit a specific submission format.

Hit 20,000 words for the new book/WIP. Hal, with his younger brother Glaive in tow, is now meeting their 9 year old nephew for the first time. What's the kid like?

I believe the true the motivation behind banning books is to keep readers in the dark. To keep them isolated and alone. Banning books disempowers readers, especially children. That's what this has always been about. That's why we can't stop fighting it. #BannedBooksWeek #kidlit

When a child reads a book and sees how a character experienced something similar and survived, it provides a lifeline to that reader. They go from feeling completely alone in the world to receiving a shred of hope. #BannedBooksWeek #kidlit

I had an encouraging rejection for a story I submitted. I'm chuffed about that.

Sometimes while going through the submissions process, I think about the characters, and what they'd say or do. This little collection of individuals are... Uplifting. I'm not about to stop trying to find them a home. 🥰

Distribution is THE under-reported story in book publishing (outside of the trade publications) and losing B&T is going to have untold ripple effects on the industry, small presses, and authors.
