Film might need to look to the dance world for their future. Classical ballet companies are supported by: wealthy donors/grants, a small but loyal audience, and notably, seasonal productions like The Nutcracker that dancers loathe because it feels like an assembly line but packs matinee seats.

It has always felt sacrilegious given the entire industry seems to worship at the temple of the movie theater, but I never, ever liked sitting in a room with a bunch of strangers. That was the only way to do it for a while, so I did.

I had an argument with my academic partner about a study of his being misinterpreted by a journalist reporting on it and told him here are the realities of media/publishing, you should come to these interviews with a clear narrative. I got a huffy "not my job!" back grrrrr
