If not for-profit comps, who will do it? Universities? That'll take 20x longer for new drugs. Non-profit groups? Same. Beating your competitor to market is everything for drug devel'ment. Oh, I forgot to mention, most drugs fail in clin trials.

Ok, but companies do the R&D, then clinical trials to eventually make money, if drug approved. They hire people to get the R&D and trials done with quality & speed. Without the motivation of profit, there won't be as much pipeline of new drugs.

People want to be paid for their work. It takes 7-10 yrs to get a drug through all 3 phases of trials, final report written, & approved for use per FDA. Do you expect statisticians, regulatory experts, medical experts to work for yrs on clinical trials for free? Companies hurry to be 1st to market.

Given Boston was one of the centers of abolitionism in mid-1850s, I'm skeptical of the veracity of here - mostly in the accuracy of the message in the sign. I could be wrong. I'm sure someone w/ the history will advise.

Hmm. Would like to see citation. Boston & NYC were the first municipally funded, & regulated police forces in US. Meaning, the police weren't glorified bounty hunters or gangs, according to what I've read.

I wonder if there was any mention in the FDA feedback from protocol submission that the sponsor should use a different comparator. I bet not a peep, and the comparator concern is a red herring.
