i am also SO DAMN SICK of the "lol you're a yankee fan, now you can like duke and the lakers and the cowboys" trash. we made the series the year i was born and lost. we didn't see the playoffs again until i was 14. i ain't no front runner. my childhood was the DOLDRUMS.

not only did we not win, it was a painful loss that everyone loves grinding into our faces. it took a looooong time for me to be able to hear freddy freeman's name.

that's how we got to be yankee fans in our family - my dad was a kid in 1950s south GA and heard yankee games with mickey mantle on the radio.

there's a lot of glass houses about fans of teams, especially in the last few years. a giants fan once threatened to fight me *at yankee stadium.* boston people have been assholes for 20+yrs. i know i'm a washed old white lady, but i'm kinda over it, yknow?

[it really does hurt my feelings, a lot, that no one is ever happy for me when my baseball team does well and everyone celebrates and calls people like me ugly names when my baseball team loses]
