The similarities between the Ukraine war and Lord of the Rings are at times uncanny. It's easy to equate characters on the dark side: Sauron, Saruman, Denethor, the Witch-king. Zelensky and his army have the hallmarks of Faramir with his Osgiliath soldiers. We now need the fellowship to get moving.

I'm looking forward to celebrating the original meaning of Christmas soon: An innocent child is born in a cold and hostile place, and straight away gets prosecuted by an imperial machine colonizing the land of Palestine. It's such a tragic, romantic image. If only we could go back and take a look.

Extreem-rechtse politici argumenteren dus dat over heel Europa een radicale onderstroom gisteren naar het meest pluralistische spektakel van het jaar heeft zitten kijken, alleen maar om een statement te maken vóór genocide/tegen woke. Occam’s razor zegt: Laat maar. Dit was manipulatie vanuit Israel.
Misschien dat we een onderzoek moeten doen naar mogelijke buitenlandse beïnvloeding van stemming en mogelijke contacten Israël met Belgische politici en opiniemakers.

Oplossing: Klimaat is de grootste nationale dreiging. Tel het mee en spendeer daar 3% aan.
Het gemak waarmee deel punditklasse aanvaarden dat we straks 5% van ons BBP moeten uitgeven aan defensie staat wel in extreem groot contrast met de fiscale en budgettaire retoriek tot voor kort. Er is nergens geld voor maar wel opeens om budget Belgisch leger 500% te verhogen. Ga toch weg.
