40 years ago Margaret Thatcher abolished rent controls in Scotland.

The Scottish Parliament just passed a Bill introduced by the Scottish Greens, which will allow them once more!

This will keep rents affordable and offer safety and stability to renters. 🙌

Rent controls passed! homes are for living in, not for profiteering.

This is really important, empowering councils to set a rate that reflects the local housing need.

It’s long since time we scrapped the council tax, but until we can build political consensus for that, the Scottish Greens will continue to find ways to make it fairer and tax wealthy homeowners

🚨MSPs have just agreed to my @scottishgreens.org proposal to lift the cap on Council Tax for second homes & empty properties.

Scotland has 15,000 homeless children, but 21,000 second homes and 46,000 empty homes. This is a problem we can solve by 'encouraging' second/empty home owners to sell.

But the Labour leadership isn’t trying to ‘counter’ reform, they’re trying to out-do them on the right. It’s morally bankrupt and a betrayal of the Labour movement, as well as all the generations immigrants who have built this country.

For anyone not in Alberta or not paying attention, girls playing sports in school now have to prove they were born female to play sports. And can be challenged by anyone at anytime and must prove they are female to keep playing. This doesn’t apply to boys. What a dystopian hellscape

Anything short of full boycott and divestment by the Scottish government and it’s public bodies, and recognition of Palestine as a state, will be unacceptable.
