Good news for Augusta drivers: the left turn onto Whitten Road has reopened, and crews have started removing the temporary bridge on Western Avenue. Most of the temporary bridge will be gone by the end of next week, so please stay alert and watch for changing traffic patterns in the work zone.​

Ever wondered how effective salt is for winter road treatment? It lowers water’s freezing point, forming a salt brine that breaks the bond between snow & ice to the pavement. Salt melts less ice as temps drop below 15°F so our crews switch to other materials to best treat roads.

The Deer Isle – Sedgwick Bridge is open and operational. Motorists – especially those driving high profile vehicles – must exercise caution when crossing the bridge. As a reminder, bridge operations are impacted when sustained 60-mph winds occur. Such conditions are not forecast in this storm.

As snowfall ramps up this winter, be sure to brush or blow to clear off the snow from your vehicle. If snow or ice flies off your vehicle and causes damage, under Maine state law you can be charged for driving with an unsecured load.

MaineDOT will be implementing nighttime closures of Broadway in Bangor from Dec. 8 to Dec. 9, between 8PM & 6AM each night for excavation work. During the nighttime closures, Broadway will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

LAP commuter bus service will be canceled on Tuesday, December 2 due to expected winter weather. We encourage riders to plan alternative transportation. Normal operations are expected to resume Wednesday, December 3.

Frank J. Wood Bridge in Brunswick/Topsham update!

The southbound lane on the new bridge is open today and will be open again tomorrow morning. Note: the lane will close tomorrow afternoon for final grading and paving.

The bridge is expected to open to two-way traffic in Mid-December.

Winter is coming. Plan ahead & get your car ready now! Make sure you’ve got winter essentials on board: a shovel, ice scraper, blankets, flashlight, first aid kit, snacks (not just whoopie pies), water, etc.
