To be fair, he DID say "some day somebody will explain that". That day might come sooner than he expects.

Sovereign nations of course can levy taxes on whatever they choose, and movie imports could be taxed by taxing imports of services. But as said, at that point things would get really interesting, since the US has a massive service trade surplus.

My point was that most movies are already digital goods and you don't need to transfer any physical items to import them. And even if they weren't, those physical goods would still only be valued at the cost or properties of a physical copy, just like in your Smoot-Hawley example.

If the U.S. decides to start taxing imports of services, things will get REALLY interesting.

I don't really see how a movie tariff would work. Tariffs apply to physical goods, not intellectual property. If you transfer raw footage to the US over the internet or using previously purchased hard drives, they just don't apply.

I doubt it's actually using those tools. Rather, that's a good and interesting answer to your question, and that's what LLMs are trained to provide.

Well, he is antiwar in the sense that he definitely will leave the consequences of the Yemen strikes for other countries to deal with! No war for Trump.

Lol. 🤷

Neat. But yeah, there's no way to get away from Photos except the back button.

In my opinion, the EU should place export restrictions for eggs until this silly trade war is over.

A big part of the shipping cost is the heavy stand. It can keep the scope steady with a more than 50cm lever arm.

Google for Eakins microscopes; you might find European distributors or at least European Ali warehouses.

Heh. A locally bought cheapo that's close to 20 years old. It even has a fluorescent lamp. Can't recommend that!

I still do most of my soldering under a magnifying glass desk lamp, though.

Of course there's a risk that QC is sloppy and you get one with bad optics, and then you're in trouble. Also, shipping costs seem to be quite outrageous now.

In my opinion, digital scopes are fine for inspections but the lag makes them annoying for soldering work.

I got this one a couple of years ago: www.aliexpress.com/item/3300779.... It's really good, like seriously really good. I have limited experience with proper western scopes, though, but for electronics use, I couldn't wish more. I got one with a camera but the camera optics weren't great, though.

Do you wear any rings? Touch the scanner with the ring, you won't feel a thing.

Lol, ok! I wasn't aware they had a memory feature! I guess that's what makes them so power-efficient, then!
