It's a 2 party system, pretty much as simple as it gets if like me you're coming from a country with multiple parties and coalition governments.

As an Irish person living in the US I can assure you that while RTE will make mistakes even very stupid ones like this, they are far more balanced and honesty than anything you'll find in the US. Bar NPR in fairness

Both of these are true though. The US did break away from the British empire but needed help from the French to do so, so not an empire yet.
