I just wanted a place to post my silly Pocket Monsters...

Working on a mainly Norway-based region!
Honey isn't exactly a drink, but I liked this Polteageist-ish idea too much not to make it. Mead, being a honey-based drink that vikings drank, felt perfect as a pre-evolution too. ...I'm honestly not sure if/how they'd have rarer forms.

It has the same superstition basis as the pre-evolved form, but now with the additional motif of a mad scientist who's stuff tends to blow up in their face.

The name's, clearly, a mix of lemming and boom. ...And sounds like it's saying "lemme boom", I guess.

Lemmine is a lemming, of course. I'm not sure if this superstition or whatever is very well-known or widespread, but when I grew up, people said lemmings would get so mad they'd literally explode. So... I used that as inspiration here!

The name's a mix of lemming and mine.

Both are obviously based on typical green aliens, but also bigfin squid! Also the general trend of people comparing deep-sea creatures to aliens.

Xephatripod also pulls in some inspiration from War of the Worlds tripods and the Qu from All Tomorrows. Maybe it's a bit on-the-nose, I dunno.

When figuring out what species to use to represent willpower, the most obvious option was something that survived for really long and through a bunch of stuff. Sooo... Trilobites, clearly. So I turned Azelf into an invertebrate!

Oops forgot to add tags again. Better late than never?

When deciding on some extinct thing to use for the "emotion" Pokémon, I was unsure for a while. I ended up going with the tiktaalik, seeing as it's the ancestor to most of the expressive animals today.

...I also wanted this thing to have kind of a "cool 90s mascot" vibe.

I love what they did for the legendary beasts, and wanted to do something similar for a trio I felt needed a bit more...spice, I guess.

The main inspiration for this thing is prototaxites. I felt like these strange, towering fungi fit Uxie's enigmatic vibe decently well.

Obviously based on a stoat. I wanted to make a fire starter who's main thing isn't just...fire. Sooo... I went with an ash/soot theme, inspired by Askeladden (apparently called Boots in English?), a character used in several Norwegian fairy tales!

The name's a mix of ash, stoat and tot!

Sumfoal is obviously a horse, with some details inspired from the fjord horse breed. Other inspirations will be more apparent when it evolves.

The name is a mix of "sump" (Norwegian for swamp), and foal.

(Also yay I remembered to use tags this time...)

Lamoss is (obviously) based on lambs, berry shrubs - specifically blueberries, and moss-covered mounds that you'll see in forests.

It's name is just a mix of Lamb and moss, pretty simple.
