Gah! How do people not realize they are wanting to dismantle everything and privatize it all for profit?!?
Not to mention the fact that our tax dollars pay for the infrastructure and personnel that make these forecasts possible. Privatizing the weather service would take the investments made with your tax dollars and give the benefits to some wealthy jerk to sell back to you for profit.
This photograph wouldn’t be possible without the forecasts, radar, and data provided by NOAA and NWS. I’m not a wealthy man. If these weren’t public products, I couldn’t do what I do.

Losing NOAA would be devastating. Project 2025 authors want to get rid of it because it monitors climate change, and privatize the information it currently provides for free, so you'll have to buy information about the weather and the winds (imperative for mariners).
