I'd try shorter exposures (120 secs) but as much total integration time as possible, use dither and try to keep the camera cool. I even used 30 sec breaks between exposures to keep down heat noise. Worked well. For fainter targets (and smaller pixels) i always use my cooled Astronomy camera.

My longest subs were 240 seconds on DSLR, just for testing narrowband filters for troubleshooting Elaton effects of my cooled astrophotography camera. If you have a sufficient number of exposures and do dithering as well, noise averages out very well. Only heat- and banding noise were quite a PITA.

Ja, theoretisch bzw. mathematisch stimmt das, aaaaber in komplexen Systemen gibt's eine Menge Parameter, die Einfluß auf reales Wachstum haben, welche nicht in der logistischen Funktion abgebildet werden.

Thanks. When I used to shoot with modified DSLR, i usually dialed in higher ISO, because of read noise figures at lower ISOs. 1600 was optimal, at the sacrifice of a little dynamic range. There were sensor-specific curves on the internet, but maybe the optimal ISO is different with a-Series DSLR.

Doing this DSO with 4 minute subs tonight. Which cam did you use?

Looks promising already. Which camera/settings did you use and what is the short sign for this DSO?
