50 years ago, every field in the UK had several, if not hundreds, of Lapwings. They are fairly much only seen on nature reserves now.
A whole flock of Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) thousands in the polder of Eemnes, a beautiful sight when they are all startled by a bird of prey 💚

....and yet the msm news presenters still rejoice in the unnaturally dry and warm weather that we are seeing.
So far this Spring, we've only had 23% of the average rainfall. 😱 Soon be hearing the words...... #drought #hosepipeban

This just shows how controlling our msm is. I have yet to see any mention of any protests or Town Hall meetings in any of the msm reporting in the UK. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.
Chart of cumulative protests reported from Jan 22 - Feb 28, 2017 vs 2025:

My article for BBC Online about Pres Trump, NATO, and Ukraine:

John Simpson: 2025 could be year for the history books
Like 1968 or 1989, this could be a year when the world changes in a fundamental way.

How's it going ? Not at all well. Although it was obvious that it would be like this with the 2022 act. Especially galling is the way the farmers closed London and had no police interference, while thinking about protesting about climate breakdown brings a huge penalty. It's wrong, it's so wrong.

It is remarkable how we thought in the 50s, 60s, 70s we were starting something, and in the subsequent 50 years we've lost so much choice, influence and control. Not to mention biodiversity loss in parallel, too.
1. A few years ago, people like me were widely attacked in the media for “declinism”. How could we fail to see that we were heading into a capitalist utopia, in which everything would keep getting better?
This is a thread about what we could see that our critics could not. 🧵

Well. It is. Isn't it.
This is what should be on every front page right now. What's happening in the US right now is an illegal power grab by a private citizen. IT'S A COUP.

It's a digital coup. It's Musk who's leading it. The consequences are terrifying. And it's coming for us next.

IT IS A COUP
This is what should be on every front page in 150 point banner headlines. All I have is this Substack but I lay it beneath your feet and pray to a higher power that I'm wrong.

Here's a different view : which is better, a controlled area affected radiation pollution, or a whole planet affected by gaseous pollution ?

Yes, this is about as simple a question as it gets to, but it is a valid one.
1. I know this will cause me trouble, but it dismays me to see fellow environmentalists dismissing Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) out of hand, in some cases clearly before they have understood the technologies involved or their potential uses. 🧵

I love discoveries like this. Logically, we know that something had to survive, but it's great to find the evidence.

I love Robert Wyatt : I have to be in the mood, but it's always worthwhile.

Hope I don't get into trouble for this one. Hopefully there are enough kitcheny things in this outdoor cooking scenario.

Question : why is it that so many #photographers here seem to be posting picture after picture within a few minutes of each other ? Is it in an attempt to gain exposure, or just hack me off so that I unfollow ? #shoutingintothevoid.

What a hopeful, and sad, interview today, with @maryannehobbs.bsky.social on @bbcradio6musicbot.bsky.social and @massiveattack420.bsky.social . I fear it's too late, but I'm very heartened by knowing there are rhose6 who are doing a lot to alleviate the actions of those who aren't.

1st thought : what a lucky man to be that close to a polar bear that appreciates the help. 2nd thought : what's happened to its mum, and why is it drifting on lose ice ?.
