My conclusion is: personal preference.
My personal preference for other men, perhaps, is shaved. I get a haircut because my skin gets inflamed when I shave.

Years ago, I was very interested in who shaves and why. I thought gay men shave. Then big fuckers. Either with a smaller or a larger one. I was looking for some kind of behavior model.
My observations and conversations with other men (shaved and not) did not give me a single answer.
