Hello folks it's been a while. The important update is that I made an EP in a month from my couch. is it electro house? industrial? synthpop? some unholy combination of the three? I don't know but I think it is a new genre called couchcore. Feel free to check it out :)

I had wanted to do rhythm game music rankings for a while but I am encountering 2 issues:
1) I want to rank some games that are still actively being updated so I'm inevitably going to miss songs

Spotify, of COURSE I want more of the suspiciously untailored album and podcast recs (I don't know if they are promotional, but if they are, please stop adding advertisements to a paid service whose main selling point is "there are no ads") just straight up on my home page, unavoidable

I love rhythm games because as a musician they produce a) the illusion of being good at video games and b) the illusion of a musical performance being something that can be perfected, that has a finite end to it where it can't get any better

I took a bunch of tracks I love and I'm gonna transcribe them to get better at arranging and composing.

I sorted them into "maximalist electronic", "minimalist electronic", "rock arrangements" (includes amplified jazz), and "orchestral and acoustic arrangements"

I've been struggling with one of the covers on my album for a while BUT I finally hit a breakthrough listening to some 70s electronic :3 I was already super drawn to more analogue, imperfect sounds for this cover, so I'm going to lean into it even more.

I am arranging a lot of cover songs right now and have figured out my solution to not being able to compete with extremely talented singers and drummers which is: aggressive vocoding in one case, and making a drum kit out of gun sounds in another! It'll work out!

pet peeve: the biggest music recommendation sites that use critic reviews don't actually credit the reviewers?
metacritic, aoty etc just cite the publication.
so i grabbed the author data myself & made a script that recommends me albums based on the compatibility of my opinions with the reviewer's!
