Sometimes I think doctors need to hear this. The amount of MALS patients who are treated poorly by doctors is still too high. Being told your illness doesn't exist or that the pain isn't real doesn't help the patient. It just makes them feel worse about their own circumstances.

Often, we are our own harshest critics, setting high expectations for ourselves. Yet, we readily offer compassion and understanding to others when they need it. It's important to give yourself that same kindness. Taking time for yourself is perfectly acceptable.

What do you consider the worst symptom of MALS?

For me it was the nausea. Which I think most people could guess because of the jokes I've made about it. But I hate being nauseous it makes me cranky and just not a good time to be around. - Laura

No matter what side of the MALS Journey you are on, it can be challenging. We know that it can be hard to focus on yourself but we hope you can do that today.
