Yes, but Adobe is not the most savvy about good decisions in the art business these days

Mostly because Adobe Illustrator has been around since 1985, so the acronym was started long before Generative AI images were an issue with the copyright theft and so on from artists.

Oh absolutely! I know someone who makes educational animations and art in Illustrator, and someone who vectorizes art for merch, and they’ve been talking about the icon getting people confused about what they do more and more lately.

Especially frustrating when you’re an artist who’s anti-gen AI

Be not afraid. Vector artists are not using Ai, they may just be in the corporate claws of Adobe. (Different problem, probably not their personal fault, I can say as a Photoshop user.)

No, I totally understand what you mean. I’ve dealt with similar. Not in regards to boss changes specifically. But one aspect of the job making something that was set up very well turn into something that’s near undoable do to elements you can’t control.
