kind of amazing how beautiful the bog standard duck is
three mallards, two male, one female, swim on a lake. The sun catches on the iridescent green feathers on the heads of the males. You can see their orange feet underwater. leafless trees make wriggling reflections on the water.

what up weird mushroom walks?

(iNaturalist suggests Collybiopsis spp. but that is unconfirmed by human and I don’t know my fungi).
a white mushroom grows on a mossy tree. It resembles a tiny little parachute (it’s common name), and sunlight glows through it.

The morning sit in

That time I learned there are Penstemon in Florida.

I fucking love Penstemon. Telling the void about it is how I will deal with my anxiety today.
A white-flowered Penstemon (Penstemon multiflorus) blooms in an open woodland, in front of a sandy road. The flowers are tube shaped, with petals that flare out like a bell. The anthers are black, and if you look closely you can see the staminode (a stamen without an anther, basically), which is the beardtongue that Penstemon's common name is from. I was so far from home in Florida, seeing native Penstemon there felt like an anchor, and a welcome, and like it was gonna all work.

Sunrise turns clouds and virga all sorts of pastel colors (lavender, pink, orange, yellow) over rolling waves, and a sandy beach. It looks like they are catching fire or otherwise lit from within and it is heckin' magical. Some blue sky shows through the clouds. St. Joseph Peninsula maybe? Florida, 2017.
