We have a trans kid too (teenager) and we also have UK citizenship. Unfortunately tho, since Brexit, it's much less appealing than Irish citizenship. My side is Scottish and while the Scots are very accepting (in general), most of the rest of the UK is not. I hate that we have to think this way.

Your description of the 'golden hour' reminds me of my husband's diagnosis - he felt totally fine when his melanoma was discovered after a routine removal of a bump on his back (not even the doc who removed said bump expected cancer, nevermind stage 3).

Saw one headed down one of avenues (towards the canal) last week. My first thought: Man, they are UGLY!

Our 16 y/o occasionally goes sockless in their winter boots but I'm pretty sure it's entirely due to laziness (not willing to run back upstairs to grab a pair of socks before going out).

Husband's surgeon said this 3 years ago: "Five years ago I would have told you to go home & get your affairs in order."

He's not fully out of the woods yet (at the 5 yr mark I will breathe better), but sparing our teens that news has been everything.
