Do people usually get executed for fraud? With no trial?

And "Minnesota" didn't commit fraud. A small number of people in Minnesota did. This is like saying the fire department should let your house burn down because someone on your block had illegal fireworks last July.

Then my next question would be "who would you recommend?"
January 28, 2026 at 12:54 AM
How is "protecting the VP in a foreign country" remotelly ICE's job?
They should just rename ICE "daddy's special soldiers" and it over with.
(I'll also note that "bodyguard" is not in ICE's job description or "training". If I were Vance, I wouldn't *want* anyone but the Secret Service.)

And they actually have to wear uniforms. Many videos show guys in jeans, sweatshirts, and baseball caps (worn backwards, often) that aren't the same color, much less match the other people in their "squad".
With no ID and no uniform, how are they claiming to be "law enforcement"?

With lots of ACTION VERBS!

How are stock buybacks different than insider trading?
December 22, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Right? It looks like the old Wheel of Fortune "prize shopping" set back when players were forced to spend their money on expensive, tacky statues.
December 21, 2025 at 7:16 PM
That's a good point.
The OP did say it *feels* "revenge porn adjacent". Maybe they were trying to say "my reaction to this is similar to my reaction to revenge porn."
December 12, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Oh, that's the difference. I'm using the phone app.
I find that a lot of mobile web sites are poorly done, particularly when it comes to respecting the user's device and browser settings.

It does scroll on my Android. That's odd.

On my Android phone, I can tap on the text and it expands to the whole screen.

Can't ICE just focus on other "illegals" until the firefighters went off shift?
Why was it *vital* for ICE to risk the firefighting efforts *and their own agents* to arrest these men *now*?
Why not let the firefighters exhaust themselves for 12-18 hours and then arrest them?
August 29, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Efforts continue with *2 fewer firefighters and the rest of the crew distracted*. The work was delayed. It could have been deadly.

And for what?
Being undocumented in the US is a civil misdemeanor.
Would you send 6 cops to an active fireline to arrest two people for unpaid parking tickets?
August 29, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Immigration policy is irrelevant here.
An active fire line at a wildfire is no place for ICE. Any agency that's not actually fighting the fire needs to stay the hell away.
Extra vehicles block the road, extra people get in the way, etc. It's reckless, and no misdemeanor is worth the danger.

Before or after you burn it?
August 25, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Well, prices can go UP 1400%, so why can't they go DOWN that much, huh? Explain THAT, libs!

(My math teacher spouse is weeping in the corner. Sigh.)

With a calculator, you still have to understand the how the operations work and know the symbols for them.

The standard is "We are Good People, so everything we do is Good. They are Bad People so everything they do is always Bad. If They seem to do something Good, They must have cheated or lied, because that's just how They are."

It's perfectly consistent if you look at that way.

I'm a big fan of Weather Undergound. When I lived in tornado alley, a local storm chaser turned me on to it. I'd watch it carefully when driving in thunderstorms, and it kept me safe for years.

I've started using the term "plagerism engine".

Problems with knees and breathing problems make you unable to show up in court? I bet "normal people" have to show up in court even if they are in a wheelchair and have an oxygen tank.

We used to call it "purpose and audience" when I was teaching 25 years ago.

I have long believed that every elected official should spend 3+ months in a shitty, customer-facing job (food service, retail, cust support, etc.) before they take office. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't be in charge.
(Obviously, this gets waived for people who already have the exp.)
