NEW: I spent a day in West Hollywood with some of Pornhub's biggest stars to talk censorship, money, the right-wing anti-porn agenda, online dating (they hate it too), parenting, and so much more, all leading up to the western-themed Pornhub awards: www.wired.com/story/pornhu...
Your Favorite Porn Stars Are Sick of Being Censored. But They’re Not Going Away
We spent the Pornhub Awards with some of the site’s biggest stars to talk censorship, making money, and the popularity of trans porn—all while the site is blocked in more than a third of US states.

As Luigi Mangione is being tried legally and in the court of public opinion, tensions are growing between his supporters pushing health care reform and those who believe he is innocent.

New deep dive into the world of feuding Luigi Mangione supporters. Some are using alleged crime to push health care reform; others find that offensive, as they believe he's completely innocent. And most of them hate the media's fixation on the "thirsters": www.wired.com/story/inside...

For Made in China this week, I wrote about China's new K visa program, which launched right as the US made H-1Bs dramatically more expensive. Sign up for the newsletter here: www.wired.com/newsletter

NEW: The Heritage Foundation is pushing a terrorism designation based on "transgender ideology" on the claim that "50% of major (non-gang) school shootings since 2015" involve a transgender shooter or trans-related motive. @dell.bsky.social and me on why that's false:

Heritage Foundation Uses Bogus Stat to Push a Trans Terrorism Classification
By inflating numbers and narrowing definitions, Heritage promotes a false link between transgender identity and violence in its push for the FBI to create a new terrorism category.

A very big Onion announcement:

The Onion has spent the last two months working on a masterpiece.

It's a documentary titled Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile.

It's so good, in fact, we were set to release it in theatres nationwide on October 2nd.

Then two weeks ago, Charlie Kirk was shot.

When did The Onion decide to make a Jeffrey Epstein mockumentary? Once Trump started acting “dodgy” fielding questions about Epstein.

“There's this big gap where information should be," @bencollins.bsky.social said. They thought "it would be very funny to fill it with complete fucking nonsense."
The Onion Made an Absolutely Unhinged Jeffrey Epstein Mockumentary
"Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile" is a very silly deep dive on a very serious issue. In the current media landscape, it’s a wonder it even got made.

NEW! A Senate report claims that DOGE has put *every* American’s social security number at risk; that staff at GSA, OPM, and SSA wouldn’t or couldn’t say what DOGE was doing; and that agencies claimed that DOGE actually doesn’t exist at all.

Armed Guards and Muscle Milk: Senate Investigation Reveals DOGE Takeover Details
A new Senate report claims DOGE put every American's Social Security number at risk—and that officials at federal agencies essentially obstructed an investigation, all but denying DOGE even exists.

It’s in select theatres in NYC, Minneapolis, LA, and SF for one day only Oct. 2, then online. It was initially going to have a bigger national run, but the first theatre chain backed out following Charlie Kirk’s death. S/o @bencollins.bsky.social and @theonion.com for giving WIRED the heads up!

A 12-foot statue of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein frolicking and holding hands appeared on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 23.

A plaque under the statue states that it has been erected “In Honor of Friendship Month."

hahaha it’s such a weird catch phrase
manishakrishnan.bsky.social
I first heard about it from my hippy friends and the guy who kept saying "follow your spleen" on Love is Blind UK. But as @matthabusby.bsky.social reports, there's also an alien prophecy and a lot of other bizarre elements. Some coaches are charging hundreds of dollars for a single reading!
