Every time I encounter an AI use that seems sensible (usually involving parsing large datasets on behalf of scientific researchers), it puts into such stark contrast the actual use cases we normal folks increasingly encounter. For every “detect whale grammar” there are dozens of slop hallucinations.

Get involved with your library! Go to board meetings. Become a regular there in the physical building. Advocate for tax increases that will increase materials budgets. Hoopla is a MASSIVE expense for most libraries, and trust me, they know you want more. There just isn't the money.

In fact, the more you use your library card at Hoopla, the less budget your library has in that line, and that line gets so very expensive that it might be a cut to something like Libby or physical copies of items. Normally, use your library card IS GREAT ADVICE. But maybe not so much here.

That's....not how that works. Hoopla doesn't set the limits, your library does. And your library is setting it based on how much money they have left in their Hoopla budget line, which changes depending on how much people check out, since items are pay-per-use, and range from 99 cents to like, 5.99.

Media consumers who don't read Romance: "I hate it when streamers make the characters say everything they're feeling."
Crave: "Here's a show where character development is explored through sex instead of long stretches of dialogue."
Media consumers who don't read Romance: "No, not like that!"

Also, great friend groups: We Are (college setting), Your Sky (college setting), Perfect 10 Liners (college setting), the aforementioned Semantic Error, Cooking Crush (more college!), Peaceful Property (okay this isn't explicitly gay but it is sooooo good and it's not college!).

FWIW, these shows are almost always one season only, so the growth might not be as...Western as 20 season Western shows give us. You'll have to see what you think.

Most of those are Thai, because a) that's what I REALLY love, but there are good Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese shows out there too. (I don't have any experience with shows from other countries in SEA, but they exist too!)

Also there are a LOT of us out here who will talk to you about this!
