I feel this a lot and it is very overwhelming.
I think you have to do what you _can_ to make things better in your little corner of the world, but ultimately you have to take care of yourself first. sometimes that means disconnecting and _not_ being so acutely aware of the atrocities

tbh I think a lot of my problems with perforce could be solved with a better p4v. not _all_ of them - its changelist model does have some fundamental flaws, but some better ux and performance fixes would go a _long way_

honestly I don't think its a terminology problem. it probably is to _some_ extent, but there's just way too much low hanging fruit ux problems in p4v for me to accept that terminology is the problem.

if ark can explain what a workspace is on the home screen, so can p4v

cool thanks!

Also explaining what a workspace is under the big button to create one gives me some confidence.

I ofc understand how workspaces work in p4 bc I needed to, but p4v does _not_ do a good job of explaining them to less-technical users

the fact that you can reorganise tabs already gives it an edge over p4v :p

in seriousness I'd like to see how they handle branching. that has consistently been the friction point for p4 in my experience - esp wrt streams

I am going to take your word for that. US law is respectfully not something I want to voluntarily read _more_ about :p

no worries. still very cool to learn that PLR exists at all, in any kind of international way
November 26, 2025 at 2:11 PM
ooh I see america _doesn't_ have PLR. ouch. thanks for the clarification
November 26, 2025 at 2:04 PM
forgive me, I'm not a librarian. but this just seems like _canadas_ implementation of PLR, no?

www.plrinternational.com/established this suggests that PLR exists in many countries

what do you mean by that
November 26, 2025 at 1:48 PM
I didn't know about this. thats cool actually
November 26, 2025 at 12:21 PM
definitely coming to learn that I am very similar here. I find the best changes I make are the ones I make when I'm 'meant' to be doing something else, and thats normally because I get so tired working on the thing I'm meant to that its just never as good as the impulse changes :p

to be fair I'm paying £1/mo because my provider does that "its really cheap for a year and then its normal prices" thing, but those normal prices are around the same ballpark
