Genetically your cousin is essentially a half sibling +/-. The average rate of birth defects for unrelated peoples' children in 2%. For cousins it's 3%. However, if 1st cousins continue to "keep it in the family," that percentage will go up...fast.

As a child, my brother was given money at Xmas to buy gifts and got to keep the change. Each year, he spent less and kept more. It ended when, at 14, he had a meltdown because if he bought gifts people actually wanted he "wouldn't have any left for himself". That's the rich mentality.

I used to make "magic reindeer food" (dried oats mixed with clear candy sprinkles) and my daughters would sprinkle it in the yard to attract Santa's reindeer. They still do it with my grandchildren.

My grandparents were migrant workers during the Depression. The work was hard and grossly underappreciated. Harassed, called names, and threatened with violence from locals mad about losing jobs they never wanted in the first place. You have my respect and appreciation "Carlos".
