Having spent 50 hours in København, we're now on the train to Hamburg, which is a significantly nicer train than the one that did the reverse journey!

I forgot to post this shot of sunset from the København to Oslo ferry a couple of days ago, and it seems too nice not to!

Just one of the many plates of food I ate at the breakfast buffet this morning!

A definite improvement in quality compared to the buffet on the ferry yesterday.

Got up reasonably early and headed out for a pre-breakfast 10k run. Claire wanted to see this light installation, which did mean we had about 180m of hill to get up, which was interesting!

Did get some lovely views of Oslo though.

One of the things on our to do list in Oslo was to recreate photos from our last trip here in 2018.

This park was on our way back from dinner, so we had to stop off.

The first place Daisy requested we re-visit was San Francisco Bread Bowl.

Glad to say it's as good as I remember!

Rather than ordering 2 bread bowls each, we got refills. Both the Baja Chicken and BBQ Chicken Mac and Cheese were delicious.

Pudding was an amazing cookie ice cream sandwich.

I'm not the only one getting strong New Street Signal Box vibes from the Munch Museum, am I?
August 21, 2025 at 9:51 AM
Wandered back to the waterfront and climbed the impressive opera house. Interesting to see the Munch Museum, as they were constructing it when we were here 7 years ago.

Had to put our feet in the water at the harbour. It was definitely fresh, not sure about swimming in it when we go to the sauna!

Decided to partake in the ship breakfast buffet, aiming to eat enough to not need lunch; I think I managed it, but I'm not sure about the rest of the family! (I had way more than I photographed)

Walked the 3k to our hotel, dumped our luggage in the baggage area, and had a coffee at Tim Wendelboe.

After a refreshingly good night's sleep, we've awoken to clear blue skies and the sun shining over the fjord! #flightfree
August 20, 2025 at 6:02 AM
We had one final wander around the centre of København, before making our way to the terminal for the next leg of our #flightfree holiday; the overnight ferry to Oslo.

See ya, København, until next... er, week.

When we told the kids we were stopping in Copenhagen, Daisy requested we go to Poulette again. Who was I to say no?

Lucked out with no queue, I ordered both the Fried Chicken bum and the Mapu Tofu bun, with fried.

Both were fabulous, I possibly preferred the Mapu Tofu, but it was close!

At Hart Bageri again, had a Cinnamon Twist and a Spandauer.

This was a good move, the twist was even better than the Cardamom Croissant, a lovely touch of the salt in the base elevating the flavour.

And custard is always going to work in a pastry for me.

Post check out, we wandered the harbour.

After a good night's sleep, headed out early for an easy run. Whilst I expected to see the concrete elefants at the old Carlsberg brewery, seeing real ones at the back of the zoo was a real bonus!

Hit the hotel gym for a workout, then jumped on bikes to get breakfast.

All in all, it was as good as we remembered it being three years ago, and well worth the return visit.

We were feeling cycled out for the day, so took a leisurely walk back to the hotel, stopping at reception to get a fan to make up for the lack of air con.

Then, finally, Korean Fried Chicken, which was awesome! It had a decent kick, too.

Then, as if they knew we were going to be there, Sticky Toffee Pudding was on the menu.

It passed the test. I particularly liked the brandy sauce they poured over it in addition to the toffee sauce.

Next up, Grilled Hake in a Spicy Tomato Sauce, which was expertly cooked and tasty as hell.

This was followed by Grilled Pork Neck in a spicy plum sauce, which again hit the spot.

Mushroom Coconut Sticky Rice did exactly what it said on the tin.

Next up was some extremely good kimchi, followed by Grilled Corn on Creamed Beans with Steamed Buns. Again, so much flavour!

Panko-coated Aubergine with a spicy peanut sauce kept the quality level high.

Dinnertime saw us cycle up to Propaganda, a cracking restaurant we visited on our last trip 3 years ago.

We started with a glass of Muri, a fermented rice drink, and it was delicious.

The first dish put was a Cold Noodle Salad with charred Cucumber and Pecorino, and it was a flavour bomb!

Had to take a diversion home from the beach to see a troll!
