Maybe I’m not getting enough protein. More beans & rice, I guess. More quinoa, though I’ll have to fix it myself, despite not being able to stand. My husband, bless him, doesn’t have the knack of fixing quinoa in a way that tastes good, even when he uses my recipe. Dunno where he goes wrong.

So we just want to kill more kids now, yeah? I mean, right out in the open? I swear, I haven’t loathed an administration this much since the time of Tricky Dick, who also thought the Constitution was a list of suggestions.

Early this morning, I submitted my horror story. I’m not unhappy w/it. My d-i-l loves it, but she tends to love all my work. My husband even likes it, except for my use of “son of a bitch,” which he’s afraid someone from church will be offended by, and he definitely doesn’t like all my work. 🤭

I ate the most delicious vegan Philly cheesesteak sandwich for supper Friday night. All vegan ingredients. So good.

I’m not vegan myself for a couple of reasons. I’ve tried. So I’m a lacto-ovo-vegetarian. I eat eggs & dairy because I have to.

But I can & do eat vegan foods all the time.

Finished 1st draft of short story. It’s horror/dark fiction with a little twist at the end. Gave it to my daughter-in-law to read. She loved it. Then I read it to my husband. He was shocked a bit at the twist. Now to tweak it (repeated words, a couple of awkward phrases) & send it off.

I’m trying again, for the *mumbles number* time to learn to crochet. Mama tried, friends have tried, I’ve tried with books, video courses. The works. Trying again. Already I want to cut off my fingers & bury them under a tree in the backyard. (Not really. That’s the horror writer in me talking.)

NBC News should be (but probably won’t be) ashamed of this headline. 90% of Americans (yes, like our president, I yanked that percentage right out of thin air) won’t look past the headline to the facts, which are there in the story. People are gonna die because of this administration.
When a news outlet puts a reckless, undocumented claim by the Trump regime in the main headline and puts medical experts’ pushback in the smaller type, it’s making a choice. And not a good one.

Menu for tomorrow:
Turkey tenderloin (for the carnivores), Gardein “chicken” cutlet for me (vegetarian), Marmite Brussels sprouts, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes casserole, macaron and cheese (scratch not a box), deviled eggs, rolls, some raw veggies, pie. 1/2

I do a similar thing with Marmite and potatoes. So good. Even my Marmite-hating husband loves Marmite-roasted potatoes.

This article lists the degrees the Department of “Education” no longer considers professional & some of the repercussions. This “administration” wants us badly-educated, unhealthy, financially vulnerable.

Certain students may no longer receive the same loan for their studies as what counts as "professional" will determine how much they get.

It’s been a “difficult” year during which heartbreak, illness & turmoil have overwhelmed our family. Thanksgiving will be a stripped-down, lowkey event. Gotta start a couple of early preps on Monday. Things I can do in easy stages, often from my wheelchair.

I was taught to shoot when I was a young girl. I’m a good shot. We own guns. I’ve also never deliberately aimed a weapon at a living thing. I don’t understand the Mighty Massive Majority MAGA worship of high caliber weaponry. Especially amongst folks who clearly never learned trigger discipline.

So first Kyle Rittenhouse has an appearance in Alabama cancelled bc of protests by local folks & now another one in PA is cancelled, ditto. I can’t say I’m thrilled at threats to hotel staff, but management knew what they were doing. Too bad, so sad, Kyle.

I have a story due today. I finally *have* the story, too. Now all I have to do is write the bugger.

Luckily, it’s a flash fiction, so not many words. Also luckily, for me, it’s the *getting* of the story that’s the hardest part. The actual writing-it-down bit not so much.

I remember this well. I was working in Washington DC, across Pennsylvania Ave from the FBI Building, when John Mitchell was indicted. The shockwaves that pulsed through all of DC, from the highest to the lowest levels, are difficult to explain today.
For no particular reason….posting former U.S. Attorney General John Mitchell’s mugshot before he went to Federal prison for committing numerous crimes on behalf and or/at the direction of President Nixon including obstruction of justice and conspiracy.

Back in the 1970s & 80s, I worked in banking. Yeah, another world, but I do understand how mortgages work. I bought my 1st house in 1973, when women couldn’t buy real estate easily, bc I worked at the bank that held the mortgage. It was a 15 yr mortgage. I was 25. 1/2

My husband & I were trying to figure out what prescription plan to use for 2026. None of them —not a single one available to me w/my Medicare— will cover the Tresiba I’ve been taking for the past 15 yrs or so to control my stupid blood sugar at night. We can’t pay for it out of pocket. 1/2
