The magic of the starry sky in the summer night, the feeling of wet grass under my feet, the smell of the forest after the rain. I wish the world would be simpler and people would have time to appreciate things like this

I cannot be alone in this feeling. Even if darkness surrounds me, I will shine like the star in the night sky and find my comfort in the sight of other stars doing the same.

I wish that people would be open to this kind of true connection, where two hearts meet and even for a moment disperse the loneliness that you feel when you gaze at the starry sky on a summer night.

It’s confusing, I find, to be around people. I see the peoples’ smiles on their faces and feel their loneliness in their hearts. I... don’t know what to believe. Should I go with their smiles, or care for their loneliness they don’t want to show? I tend to stay away, it makes me too confused.

I am Mara, an autistic and queer writer, and my pronouns are They/them. Since I remember, I have loved to make stories, build fantastic worlds, and spend most of my time there. I never saw myself represented in any of the books I read, and it made me wonder if there is something wrong with me.
