Helping research libraries support the future of scholarship. Anthro PhD, Quaker, Western Mass returner 🏳️‍🌈 Views my own.
Proud to have @repmcgovern.bsky.social’s support for current and future social science research at a moment when grants are being frozen and agencies like IMLS targeted for elimination. #COSSA2025

At a program about prayer at my Quaker meeting today, one of the speakers shared this handwritten list of names for God that she’s compiled from Thomas Kelly’s A Testament of Devotion.

My first new initiative at @arlnews.bsky.social!

Book-length studies of scholarly communities can signal changes in research practice, but library leaders are often too busy to read them. This series aims to distill actionable insights in the key of epistemic diversity.

In my first library job, I was managing staff who were the same age as my parents 😳

Wish I could've attended @arlnews.bsky.social's 2025 President's Institute on multigenerational libraries. The deadline has been extended to January 17.

Looking forward to this event on #OpenAccess with the Society for Disability Studies, organized by @mw-m.bsky.social.

I'll be using the beta version of the How Equitable Is it? tool (coalitions.typeform.com/Equity-Tool) to help attendees evaluate the approach to publishing their society has taken.

Last fall, cOAlition S put forward a draft proposal for a future scholarly communication system.

Since then, they’ve surveyed 11k+ researchers to assess their level of support for the plan.

The findings of that consultation are now out, including a recommended sequence of next steps. Stay tuned!

Saw the #Illinoise musical last night: a celebration of bodies in motion, queer undecidability, and the power of story. See it by August 10 if you can.

Looking forward to being part of this conversation about service in scholarly societies, at different career stages and beyond the professoriate.
