I fixed it! The bottom screw was in an incorrect place, fixing it it fixed the locking mechanism. I also tried to clean as much as I could, so the entire typewriter now feels really good!

I also almost entirely reverse-engineered the font files used by these displays. Even though I ripped the most modern font from a PDF, the font files contain many fun images!

I bought a set of flip dot displays used in Prague trams and buses. I'm currently trying to make a driver for them, but its not as easy as I thought it would be...

Got a typewriter (Consul 222.2, made in 1980 in czechoslovakia) from my grandma. Works great and has a very cool tab feature, but the locking mechanism is broken, so I have to hold it unlocked to write anything.
It is very fun to write on it though!
