This, I think was Mamdani's first introduction to folks who do not follow NY state politics in depth. This is the kind of messaging that reassures people about the solidity of your ideological commitments and the presence of your backbone, which buys you leeway to do things like today.

Yeah. As a direct response to 'Omelas' it's poorly constructed, which I think is a shame because it had some good ingredients. Here's a bit from her in an interview where she talks about what she was trying to do, which makes it make a bit more sense
