Prior to 18th century nobody literally imagined the world in the sense we do today, that is based on detail-rich, easy-to-follow maps with neatly delineated, clearly described countries in contrasting colors. Such maps did not simply exist.

When you honestly think the US really needs Greenland but exclude military action, you should actually be mad at Trump for squandering any chance of the US being able to take control of it by non-military means in any foreseeable future.

This is what i saw among otherwise very reasonable American friends too. Totally oblivious and keen to wave off how pissed people from Denmark and Canada are at the US because of Trump's escalating rhetoric.

Why this vile idiot is allowed to waffle the obvious nonsense on "every understanding of law" without being challenged. Calling this out is 6 grade stuff.

Except that the entire "security" argument is completely disingenuous. The root cause of the entire affair is Trump's ego and imperial appetites of his entourage. Also, even taking "security" discussion in good faith (which doesn't make sense) how is the US more secure with NATO falling apart.

Sweden was already close to making a bomb, back in the 60s. I heard it on a good authority that it'd be a matter of months to start testing if they choose to revisit the program. Of course, bomb itself is one thing, developing adequate delivery systems is quite another.

This exactly. It's just absurd how prevalent is the view that a 140M nation with some mineral resources, backward political culture and little modern technology were to "dominate" 600M Europeans.

Most people honestly don't care until it's too late. It's just those with prescience and sensitivity who do. Or, when the situation sorts itself out, we probably'd just call it "overthinking" and call it a day 😉
