I am old enough to remember Obama was called "unelectable" by Hillary's fanbase and hardcore Republicans alike.

Very interesting results for Eastern Mississippi / Western Arkansas, Iowa, South Carolina (!), Georgia.

Prior to 18th century nobody literally imagined the world in the sense we do today, that is based on detail-rich, easy-to-follow maps with neatly delineated, clearly described countries in contrasting colors. Such maps did not simply exist.

When you honestly think the US really needs Greenland but exclude military action, you should actually be mad at Trump for squandering any chance of the US being able to take control of it by non-military means in any foreseeable future.

MSM were withholding that from you, but this one guy figured a simple trick with a student globe and now policy makers hate him.

"Donald Trump is concerned about a People's Liberation Army Navy - Marine Corps landing along NATO's Northern Flank, he must act now to prevent it"

Listen to yourselves. Play some Final Fantasy 3. Find God. Take up mandolin. Grow arugula.

Anything is more dignified than what you're doing now.

How about a headline that it is wildly illegal for the US to "run" a foreign nation. You are an effing joke.

This is what i saw among otherwise very reasonable American friends too. Totally oblivious and keen to wave off how pissed people from Denmark and Canada are at the US because of Trump's escalating rhetoric.

Why this vile idiot is allowed to waffle the obvious nonsense on "every understanding of law" without being challenged. Calling this out is 6 grade stuff.

At the risk of stating the obvious, just wanted to remind everyone that buying an Olympic medal does not make you a champion.

It's not about arguments. It's about normalisation of imperial conquest and pushing the Overton window.

I love it that his wife was apparently an inspiration for the aloof, spoiled protagonist of Pulp's 90s hit "Common people".

Except that the entire "security" argument is completely disingenuous. The root cause of the entire affair is Trump's ego and imperial appetites of his entourage. Also, even taking "security" discussion in good faith (which doesn't make sense) how is the US more secure with NATO falling apart.

Sweden was already close to making a bomb, back in the 60s. I heard it on a good authority that it'd be a matter of months to start testing if they choose to revisit the program. Of course, bomb itself is one thing, developing adequate delivery systems is quite another.

It does, in the sense that non-existence of a historical Jesus (whatever his actual characteristics) contradicts the key tenet of Christianity.
January 7, 2026 at 10:06 PM
This exactly. It's just absurd how prevalent is the view that a 140M nation with some mineral resources, backward political culture and little modern technology were to "dominate" 600M Europeans.

To change the regime, you need to, like, change the regime.

Most people honestly don't care until it's too late. It's just those with prescience and sensitivity who do. Or, when the situation sorts itself out, we probably'd just call it "overthinking" and call it a day 😉
