You seem to be confusing NATO with the UN. Unfortunately, NATO can’t take serious action to pressure Russia because Russia controls the US.

Only because Ukraine is bravely holding them back. If Europe lets Russia win in Ukraine and turn it into another Belarus it will be a completely different story.

Ukraine can and will win because only victory means survival for Ukraine and security for Europe. Putin will eventually succumb to the ongoing destruction of his economy. It would already have happened if America hadn’t chosen to side with Russia, but it will happen.

Russians are being killed in their hundreds of thousands because they’re invading. Ukrainians are dying to defend their country. You shouldn’t ’both sides’ this conflict by ignoring what it’s about and suggesting there’s some sort of equivalence between Russian and Ukrainian deaths.

No doubt you’ve never been to Ukraine, not during this war at least. To say that Ukraine is fighting America’s proxy war demonstrates a profound ignorance of what’s happening there and what they’re fighting for. At this point America isn’t even on Ukraine’s side.

That’s just wishful thinking from another right-wing populist. Russia is unlikely to be defeated in terms of being rolled back as far as Moscow, but it most definitely will lose the war in the sense that it will never occupy Ukraine or bring the country back within its sphere of influence.

Because he’s fundamentally dishonest and has bought into the lie that Trump is trying to negotiate a just peace for Ukraine, rather than merely looking for ways to make money in Russia. And his answer that there’s no need for a plan B in case the US stops selling weapons was pitiful.

It seems there’s evidence to suggest he was also an accessory to murder. Once he’s locked up they should throw away the key.

I didn’t see much sign of despair in Kyiv this past week. I saw mostly steely resilience and a determination to lead as normal a life as possible, despite the air raids, power cuts and intermittent heating.

He said putting up taxes was unpopular with voters, suggesting popularity with voters was something Putin might be concerned about. I stand by my comment - it was a ludicrous thing to say. Revolution in Russia is essential for Europe to move on from this nightmare; Rutte should be pushing for it.

Rutte has made many ridiculous comments, none more clearly stupid than describing something in Russia as being ’unpopular with voters’, as if that were a meaningful concept in Putin’s dictatorship.

This has been evident for decades. It beggars belief that the EU and the wider western alliance still think in terms of containing Russia without confrontation, or inserting a ‘peacekeeping force’. Only confronting and defeating Russia and dismantling its empire will keep us safe long term.

We can’t know the veracity of this video, but if you take it at face value he does appear to say he’s going to fight on the Ukrainian side.
